The Inventory analyst reports to the Production Planning Manager and is responsible for the management and control of all materials used in the production process. Additionally, the analyst is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all material transactions, including purchases, receipts, issues, and transfers, for monitoring and analyzing inventory levels, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions to ensure efficient inventory management, managing the physical inventory counts, and coordinating with the production team to ensure accuracy of inventory records of Aurubis Richmond. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of inventory management principles and practices, including inventory costing, inventory control, and physical inventory management, combined with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset with strong technical and personal skills.

Verify that all material/inventory transactions (purchases, receipts, issues, transfers, purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices) have been entered, recorded, and reconciled correctly into SAP, MES, and via other IT Production Applications.

Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances and recommend corrective actions.

Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure the plant has the appropriate number of materials to support production requirements.

Key-User for Production Planning Software which will include software implementations (SAP, MES, IT Production Applications, etc.).

Identify any potential risks in material flow/inventory and recommend strategies to minimize holding costs, while also ensuring adequate stock levels.

Coordinate with the Planning and Production Teams to forecast material needs, place orders, and adjust inventory levels accordingly.

Manage, plan, and execute the physical inventory counts, coordinate with the production team, and ensure the accuracy of the inventory records.

Prepare and present reports and dashboards mainly related to inventory management, material transactions, holding costs, etc. using MS Excel, SAP, MES, and other production applications.

Analyze the data and provide insights and recommendations to the management team to support decision-making processes and process improvement.

Ensure that all material transactions and inventory records comply with the company’s policies and procedures and the relevant regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with Accounting to monitor and ensure the accuracy of all material-related tax filings and other compliance-related reports.

Support Planners and Accounting for availability and correctness of the metallurgical controlling at the site e.g., in the form of metal balances, metal inventories, inputs, and outputs.

Monitor production output and adjust production plans as needed to meet changing demand or production requirements.

Work with the Quality Control Team to ensure that production meets quality standards and that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, etc.); experience will be considered in lieu of education.

Must have 3+ years of experience in a similar Material Control Analyst, Material Planning, or Inventory Analyst role.

Must have intermediate to advanced skills and experience with MS Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables), SAP, MES, and other production applications/inventory systems. Experience participating in the implementation of or making changes to the set-up of SAP, MES, and other production applications is strongly preferred.

Understanding of inventory management principles and practices, including inventory costing, inventory control, and physical inventory management.

Proficiency in data analysis, reporting statistics, and preparing management presentations.

Knowledge of lean/process improvement methodologies.

APICS certification(s), a plus.

Must have exceptional written/verbal communication skills.

Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with affinity for resourcefulness, and self-driven entrepreneurial style. 

Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations  

Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.  

Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.  

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  

Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
