“Business Improvement Guides” (BIGs) act as internal consultants for transformation processes towards operational excellence at our sites. They assist the line functions in successfully initiating and implementing change activities, always aiming for systematic solutions. Their cooperation with the sites is based on two principles: support and challenge. As catalysts of new practices, BIGs share operational-excellence-related knowledge across hierarchy levels and across sites. They deliver relevant trainings to other employees, e.g. on root cause problem solving or performance management. Overall, BIGs help to guide Aurubis into a future of being the most efficient smelter network in the world.

Manager Operational Excellence & Business Improvement / Black Belt (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • drive change across sites and the hierarchy, support operating and business process improvements – in terms of contents, methodologies and desired performance behaviors
  • encourage operational excellence through the application of lean and Six Sigma principles, manage our “Aurubis Operating System” and further build it
  • structure and develop continuous improvement capabilities throughout the organization
  • engage in continuous improvement projects taking different roles – from methodology expert via change facilitator to project manager
  • identify focus areas of improvement and specific improvement potentials in production processes as well as related performance management activities
  • drive standardization in operations, constantly aiming to achieve the best possible solution for the group
  • challenge "as is" processes on the sites and help internal customers to define the best way to reach their next level
  • conduct analyses and interviews from shop floor to management level and develop solutions jointly with colleagues on-site
  • actively promote hand-in-hand cooperation, cross-site and cross-department, to foster best practice exchange
  • facilitate organizational learning and act as an internal trainer for relevant Lean tools

Your Profile

  • technical or business college/university degree
  • 5+ years of practical experience in improvement/excellence initiatives and 5+ years’ experience as a certified black belt with experience in driven black belt projects, training and coaching green belts in comparative industry
  • leadership experience, both as a lateral or a disciplinary leader, and experience in benchmarking advantageous
  • ability to quickly acquire comprehensive knowledge of technical production and maintenance processes
  • high personal drive and ambition for a strong future career at Aurubis
  • pronounced analytical, problem solving and project management skills, experience in statistical process control and lean methods, e.g. value stream mapping
  • ability to develop pragmatic solutions and deliver tangible results on time
  • fluency in business English
  • excellent communicator from shop floor to senior management level with outstanding presentation skills
  • “bridge builder” mentality with a passion for connecting and empowering people
  • wholehearted team worker
  • target-focused, reliable and persistent method of working when dealing with obstacles
  • willingness and ability to self-reflect, as well as to travel up to 40% – in compliance with the current Aurubis travel guidelines
