In this context, a centralized Group Engineering Organization (GEO) serves as a key enabler providing expertise and enhanced execution capabilities to the group for the successful implementation of strategic projects. Development, implementation and controlling of governance rules for these projects are key for the foundation of successful Aurubis projects.

Senior Engineer Shutdown Management – CoE Group Engineering (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Being a part of Aurubis’ Group Engineering Organization (GEO), you are in charge of setting the standards for the execution of shutdowns in the Aurubis Group and report to our Team Leader of Center of Excellence Group Engineering.  
  • You define basic standards for shutdown management.
  • Furthermore, you develop, introduce and ensure these Group standards in close cooperation with the departments concerned (e.g. through training and instruction).
  • You participate in the preliminary planning of shutdowns.
  • In cooperation with the project team, you prepare and participate in strategic project meetings.
  • Besides that, you manage and supervise external engineering service providers in the context of shutdowns.
  • You develop, introduce, and monitor risk management principles for major outages.
  • You lead and guide assessments and audits for relevant outages, also with external partners.
  • In Addition, you benchmark internally and externally the project teams and the overall shutdown organization.
  • You coach the involved colleagues (department heads, plant managers, etc.) and disseminate relevant knowledge.
  • You create acceptance of the introduced processes across cultural boundaries and thus strengthen the cross-site cooperation.

Your Profile

  • You have successfully completed a master’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering or a comparable field.
  • Besides that, you have at least five years of practical experience in shutdown management and international project management in a leading position.
  • You possess a profound knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g. MS 365, simulation software, ERP software).
  • Additionally, you have an excellent command of written and spoken English and German (C level).  
  • You possess proven problem-solving skills and a high level of independency (in planning, organization, execution and controlling).
  • You have the ability to take responsibility and make independent decisions.
  • Furthermore, you have knowledge of project (preferably according to PRINCE2) and change management and you are experienced in resolving conflicts in an international context as well as open to constructive feedback.
  • You are capable of working within strict deadlines and under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • You have strong teamwork skills, interest in new tasks and challenges and a strong desire for optimization.
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility for (partially) international deployments to a respective project location round off your profile.
