Procurement Specialist

Your Tasks

  • Implementation, securing and execution of procurement strategies for all locally managed purchasing categories, i. e. facility management and infrastructure services within Corporate Procurement guidelines.
  • Execution of global category strategies within local sphere.
  • Establish and manage RFI, RFP and RFQ processes.
  • Create and manage purchase orders in SAP to ensure correct pricing, quantity, delivery date, special requirements, etc.  
  • Track critical supply items and contact vendors to expedite deliveries as needed.
  • Create, negotiate and review purchasing contracts.
  • Transfer recurring procurement to framework agreements to leverage efficiencies.
  • Build day-to-day business relationships with suppliers and develop partnerships with critical suppliers.
  • Preparation and implementation of supplier evaluation audits and supplier reviews.
  • Assess supplier performance against predetermined goals by monitoring quality acceptance rates, delivery performance, and cost savings performance.
  • Review, analysis and optimization of purchasing specifications with the goal to establish procurement alternatives.
  • Recommend cost saving proposals including alternative sourcing, step pricing for volume discounts and make-versus-buy analysis.
  • Observation of the local procurement markets.
  • Managing contractual disruptions.
  • Leading local procurement initiatives and projects.
  • Establish close relationships with internal stakeholders (especially operations, maintenance and project teams).
  • Ensures close collaboration with Corporate Procurement .
  • Drives continuous improvement of processes and performance.
  • Other job duties as needed.

Your Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement in a manufacturing company.
  • 3-5 years consistent hands-on experience in the US. 
  • Experience of working in an international environment.
  • Strong knowledge working in ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong commercial and technical understanding and knowledge in project management, change management and contract law.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training and collaboration.
  • Comfortable “pivoting” quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability as an outstanding team player and a successful independent worker.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in the field of economics, industrial engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Master’s Degree is considered a plus but is not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
  • Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
  • Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct audits and/or walk-through.
  • Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
  • Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally, if requested.
