Operational excellence managers act as internal consultants for transformation processes in our sites. They assist the line functions in successfully initiating and implementing change activities, always aiming for systematic solutions. Their cooperation with the sites builds on two principles: support and challenge. As catalysts of new practices, they share operational excellence related knowledge across hierarchy levels and across sites and deliver relevant trainings to other employees. Overall, operational excellence managers help to guide Aurubis into a future of being the most efficient smelter network in the world.

Operational Excellence Manager, Quality | Black Belt (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • In this position you drive change across sites and hierarchy levels, support operating and business process improvements – in terms of contents, methodologies and desired performance behaviors.
  • You shape, implement and monitor our integrated management system activities out of a group governance role.
  • Additionally, you develop group processes with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Furthermore, you conduct / accompany internal ISO 9001 related audits and support external audits group wide.
  • You encourage operational excellence through the application of lean and six sigma principles, build further and manage our Aurubis Operating System plus corresponding system structure and develop continuous improvement capabilities throughout the organization.
  • In addition, you engage in quality improvement projects to eliminate special sources of variation and the reduction of CoPQ to aim for zero-loss production processes with higher customer satisfaction and optimum effort.
  • You conduct analyses and interviews from shop floor to management level.
  • Actively promoting hand-in-hand cooperation, cross-site and cross-department, to foster best practice exchange will be your daily challenge.
  • You facilitate organizational learning and act as internal trainer for relevant quality tools.

Your Profile

  • You have a technical or business college/university degree.
  • At least 5 years’ of practical experience in Quality Improvement and/or Quality Management.  
  • Experience as certified black belt and lead of several black belt projects is a must.
  • As a certified lead auditor, you have demonstrated practical experience with DIN EN ISO 9001.
  • You have leadership experience, both as a lateral or disciplinary leader, and experience in benchmarking is advantageous.
  • The ability to quickly acquire comprehensive knowledge of technical production and maintenance processes is necessary.
  • You have high personal drive and ambition for a strong future career at Aurubis.
  • Pronounced analytical, problem solving and project management skills, experience in statistical process control and lean methods e.g. value stream mapping.
  • Additionally, you have the ability to develop pragmatic solutions and deliver tangible results on time.
  • Your English is business fluent.
  • You possess a “bridge builder” mentality with a passion for connecting and empowering people.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% – in compliance with the current Aurubis travel guidelines.
