The full-time position of an onsite INVENTORY SPECIALIST reports to the Production Planning Manager and is responsible for the management and control of all materials used in the production process. Additionally, the Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all material transactions, including purchases, receipts, issues, and transfers, for monitoring and analyzing inventory levels, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions to ensure efficient inventory management, managing the physical inventory counts and coordinating with the production team to ensure accuracy of inventory records of Aurubis Richmond. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of inventory management principles and practices, including inventory costing, inventory control, and physical inventory management, combined with a detail-oriented and analytical mind-set with strong technical and personal skills.

The position's focus is to ensure that the company has the appropriate amount of materials to support production requirements while minimizing inventory holding costs. The Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in identifying potential risks and recommending strategies to mitigate these risks, coordinating different departments and stakeholders to ensure that the production process is running smoothly, and that the organization can meet its business objectives.  The Inventory Specialist's role is crucial to the company's overall efficiency and profitability as it ensures that materials are managed effectively, reducing the risk of stockouts, or overstocking, and improving the company's cash flow management.

Your Tasks

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recording all material transactions in Aurubis’ systems and verifying the accuracy of the data entered.
  • Ensure that all material purchases, receipts, issues, and transfers are correctly recorded and reconciled with the relevant documents, such as purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
  • Responsible for investigating any discrepancies or variances and recommending corrective actions to prevent such discrepancies from recurring.
  • Responsible for monitoring and analyzing inventory levels to ensure that the company has the appropriate number of materials to support production requirements.
  • Coordinate with the production team to forecast material needs, place orders, and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
  • Analyzes inventory data to identify potential risks and recommends strategies to minimize the company's inventory holding costs while ensuring adequate stock levels to meet production demands.
  • Responsible for managing the physical inventory counts, including planning, and executing the inventory counts, coordinating with the production team, and ensuring the accuracy of the inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between the physical inventory and the system records and recommend corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting reports related to inventory management and material transactions.
  • Analyze the data and provide insights and recommendations to the management team to support decision-making processes.
  • Ensures that all material transactions and inventory records comply with the company's policies and procedures and the relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of all material-related tax filings and other compliance-related reports.
  • Support Planners, Controlling & Accounting for availability and correctness of the metallurgical controlling at the site Aurubis Richmond e.g., in the form of metal balances, metal inventories, inputs, outputs.
  • Decide together with operations if certain materials can be processed.
  • Supports and contributes to the simulation of metallurgical processes to improve metallurgical efficiency and optimize economic results.
  • Monitor production output and adjust production plans as needed to meet changing demand or production requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure that there is sufficient stock to meet demand while minimizing inventory costs.
  • Work with the quality control team to ensure that production meets quality standards and that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and provide regular reports to management
  • Key-User for Production Planning software which will include software implementations.

Your Profile

 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in related production planning or metallurgical professions.
  • Proven work experience as a production planning manager or metallurgist, ideally in an international environment.
  • Possess understanding of chemical or metallurgical (production) processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency in conducting data analysis, reporting statistics, and preparing management presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and through teams at all levels of the workforce.
  • Previous experience creating and presenting to various levels including relevant stakeholders and external partners.
  • Must be able to effectively present information to (top) management.
  • Strong computer skills (business system, email, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (esp. Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP), operation systems (MES) and product flows.
  • Knowledge of lean/process improvement methodologies
  • If filled with an internal current employee of Aurubis, the individual must be willing to relocate to the US for a minimum of three (3) years with a possibility of extension upon approval, if needed.
