Environmental and Energy Manager

Your Tasks

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental and Energy Manager to join our team. As the Environmental and Energy Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, optimize energy usage, and drive sustainability initiatives. Your expertise in environmental management, energy conservation, and sustainable practices will play a crucial role in minimizing our environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency. Your Profile

Responsibilities 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits, including air emissions, wastewater management, hazardous waste disposal, and other environmental aspects specific to the manufacturing industry. 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental and energy management strategy aligned with the organization's sustainability goals, promoting resource conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention. 

  • Identify energy-saving opportunities, monitor energy consumption, and implement initiatives to optimize energy efficiency throughout the manufacturing processes. This includes evaluating equipment performance, implementing energy-saving technologies, and promoting employee awareness and engagement in energy conservation practices. 

  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement appropriate controls and procedures to minimize environmental impact. 

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely environmental reports to regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Maintain records and documentation related to environmental permits, monitoring data, and inspections. 

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including management, operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, to promote environmental awareness and engagement throughout the organization. 

  • Stay up to date with changes in environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices relevant to the manufacturing industry. Develop and implement training programs to ensure employees' understanding of and compliance with environmental policies and procedures. 

  • Coordinate and conduct internal environmental audits to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and drive corrective actions to address any deficiencies. 

  • Develop sustainability reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) related to environmental and energy metrics. Analyze and communicate the results to stakeholders, highlighting progress, opportunities, and areas for improvement. 

  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance environmental performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives. Implement and drive continuous improvement projects and initiatives that align with the organization's goals. 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, responding promptly and professionally to inquiries, complaints, and requests via various communication channels, such as phone, email, and live chat. 

  • Identify and analyze customer issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide effective solutions in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction. 

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with commercial clients, understanding their needs, preferences, and business requirements to provide personalized and tailored service. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of our products and services to confidently address customer inquiries, provide accurate information, and suggest appropriate solutions. 

  • Order Processing: Process commercial orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper documentation, adherence to established procedures, and timely order fulfillment. 

  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of customer interactions, inquiries, and resolutions in the designated systems. Generate reports as required to track customer service metrics and identify trends or areas for improvement. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to ensure seamless customer experiences and effective problem resolution. 

  • Collect and relay customer feedback, suggestions, and concerns to the appropriate departments for continuous improvement of products, services, and processes. 

  • Policies and Procedures: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and service standards to uphold a consistent level of service excellence. 

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, product knowledge, and customer service best practices to enhance your skills and contribute to the growth of the Commercial Department. 

Qualifications 

  • Proven experience in environmental management, energy conservation, or sustainability roles within the manufacturing industry. 

  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations, permits, and compliance requirements relevant to manufacturing operations. 

  • Strong understanding of energy management principles, energy-efficient technologies, and best practices in the manufacturing industry. 

  • Experience in conducting environmental audits, risk assessments, and managing environmental reporting and permitting processes. 

  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and reporting standards, such as ISO 15000 and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), is highly desirable. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions. 

  • Strong project management abilities, with the capacity to lead and drive environmental initiatives across the organization. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Proficiency in using environmental management systems, data management tools, and Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or similar credentials are advantageous. 

  • A commitment to staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging practices related to environmental sustainability and energy management.

 Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus. 
  • Varying periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer – some may be prolonged periods. 

  • Must be able to perform the following: walking, standing, climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, using hand-to-finger movement, balancing, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping for most of every day.   

  • May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

  • Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. 

  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally. 

  • Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 

  • There will be prolonged periods of standing and walking in the plant daily. 

  • Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections. 

  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to all safety needs on the floor or in the office areas. 

  • Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas. 

  • Willing to some (overnight) travel domestically and/or internationally.
