Senior Project Engineer

Your Tasks

Job Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer supports the Aurubis engineering team on various aspects such as supporting (or leading) design reviews, technical evaluation of Project Change Directives, SOW creation, technical bid evaluation, and taking care of specific engineering queries. The Senior Project Engineer is the coordinator of the key processes Management of Change and Hazard Study Process. As designated Point of Contact for Procurement and through the role of Management of Change coordinator, the execution of the Engineering Execution Plan is supported in various ways. The Senior Project Engineer works closely with the other engineering and project team members as well as other stakeholders to ensure that all design requirements and requests to engineering are met in line with project schedule and budget requirements.

Your Profile

Responsibilities

  • Support the design process for construction projects, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost-effective.
  • Support coordination between Aurubis project engineers, engineering firms, the project team and contractors to ensure that drawings packages are delivered to the field in time to meet the schedule.
  • Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets all regulatory and safety requirements and is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team as required.
  • Support managing the resolution of any design-related issues that arise during the project, including changes to the design, scope, or budget.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the Management of Change (MOC) process, take the role of the MOC Coordinator ensuring efficient stage-gated processing and documentation of requests.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the Hazard Study Processes and work closely with HSE and external PHA support to prepare and execute Hazard Studies as needed and in line with project schedule. Ensure together with the Design Manger that the results are appropriately fed back into the design.
  • Point of Contact for Procurement, e.g. for SOW creation, technical bid evaluation, etc.
  • Responsible for engineering/design Interface Management, ensuring that the various battery limits of units and design packages fully cover scope and no gaps in Construction and Commx occur.
  • Responsible for engineering design QC/QA, closely collaborating with the Design Manager, engineering team, contractors, Procurement and Construction to make sure desired design quality is delivered.
  • Responsible for engineering key processes QA, closely collaborating with the engineering team, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the processes deliver the desired output efficiently.

 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience
  • Experience managing teams and coordinating with other engineering disciples.
  • Experience managing external engineering consultants.
  • Experience with major mech. equipment included in smelting process preferred.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.

Special Soft Skills Needed

  • Highly organized with strong attention to details and technicalities
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking and quantitative skills
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field;
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or other ASME certification is strongly preferred
