Financial Controller-Metals

Your Tasks

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and controlling of commercial conditions (TC/RC, metal deductions, target metal contents).
  • Review of the contractual conditions agreed, controlling of their proper input in the system, and of their proper execution.
  • Metal result determination: calculating, analyzing and reporting of the actual metal result
  • Planning and forecasting of the future metal result (as well as EBT relevant price result): annual planning process (MTP), quarterly forecast, monthly outlook.
  • Regular review and update of the technical / commercial losses, and of the unanalyzed metals per material.
  • Metal result and smelting fees steering: analyzing and tracking of smelting fees per material, deriving of decisions; strong independencies to the metal result and also the margin calculations.
  • Monitoring of metal inventory quantities.
  • Support to the SCM team in coordinating the determination of the target inventory and its tracking.
  • Costing, profitability calculations and reporting: Builds, runs and updates a model for the calculation of cost rates per metal for Aurubis Richmond and combined in a group end-to-end view
  • Determination of complete operating costs per metal, per aggregate of introduction, combination of these costs into an end-to-end view. Includes a view of recovery rates per metal, at site and group end-to-end level.
  • Develops and updates as required the pre-calculation cost data and models (includes the assembly of qualitative assumptions for new cost areas, like Lab and Sampling);
  • Reviews and ensure the quality of the SAP data required to feed these calculations: budgeted costs per cost-centre, detailed metal balances required to determine circulation factors.
  • Fosters the usage of the pre-calculation models by the Commercial teams. Uses this data for post-calculation and reporting, in relation with the Reporting and Reporting Systems teams, and with the Commercial teams.
  • Liaises with the project teams (R&D and Business Analytics) managing the “SCOPE” model and the “Integrated Recycling Model”, to provide them with reliable and relevant cost data.
  • Consults on plant level to make the best decisions for the feed mix.
  • Monitor transfer prices for intermediate products sold.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Ad’hoc requests and special topics in the areas of commercial and operations.

Your Profile

Experience:

  • 3+ years of related practical experience
  • General experience with databases at working level
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Good knowledge of MS Office in general, but excellent knowledge of MS Excel
  • Understanding of related material flows to uncover and exploit interdependencies to maximize site/group success
  • Profound understanding of metal analysis required to meet the information demands of internal and external stakeholders (i.e. external auditors), challenges to be faced: materials procured from the market where we perform limited analysis, intermediates staying on stock or being traded intercompany, and in materials delivered to other processors but awaiting final analysis
  • Knowledge of lean/process improvement methodologies
  • Basic experience in chemicals and metallurgy.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent analytical thinking and abstraction skills
  • Ability to deal with complex topics, large amounts of data, large calculations
  • Autonomous, self-starter, able to identify and address priorities.
  • Good relationship skills, enabling to reach out and collaborate effectively with other functions throughout the organization (Group functions, Aurubis AG plant, other plants)
  • High interest in industrial and technical matters.

Education:

  • Engineering degree, preferably Industrial Engineering or equivalent degree (process, chemical, …)
  • MBA preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
  • Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally, if requested.
