Operational excellence managers act as internal consultants for transformation processes in our sites. They assist the line functions in successfully initiating and implementing change activities, always aiming for systematic solutions. Their cooperation with the sites builds on two principles: support and challenge. As catalysts of new practices, they share operational excellence related knowledge across hierarchy levels and across sites and deliver relevant trainings to other employees. Overall, operational excellence managers help to guide Aurubis into a future of being the most efficient and sustainable smelter network in the world.


To support our Group Continuous Improvement department in Hamburg, Lünen, Pirdop, Avellino, Olen or Beerse we are looking for you as

Digital Operational Excellence Manager | Blackbelt (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • drive change across sites and the hierarchy, support operating and business process improvements through digitalization – in terms of technology, methods and desired performance behaviors
  • encourage digital operational excellence through the application of lean and six sigma principles, further build and implement our Aurubis Operating System plus corresponding system structure and develop continuous improvement capabilities throughout the organization
  • engage in continuous improvement projects taking different roles – from methodology expert via change facilitator to project manager
  • identify focus areas of improvement and specific improvement potentials in production processes and related performance management activities
  • challenge "as is" processes on the sites and help internal customers to define the best way to reach their next level including leveraging new technologies
  • conduct analyses from shopfloor to management level and develop solutions jointly with colleagues on site
  • actively promote hand-in-hand cooperation, cross-site and cross-department, to foster best practice exchange
  • facilitate organizational learning and act as internal trainer for relevant Lean and digital tools

Your Profile

  • technical or business college/university degree
  • business English skills; German, Bulgarian or other language of Aurubis network beneficial
  • 5+ years of practical experience in improvement / digital excellence initiatives and 5+ years’ experience as certified black belt with proven track record of driving black belt projects, training and coaching green belts, ideally in similar industry
  • leadership experience, as a lateral and/or disciplinary leader, and experience in benchmarking are advantageous
  • ability to quickly acquire comprehensive knowledge of technical production and maintenance processes
  • pronounced analytical, problem solving and project management skills, experience in statistical process control and lean methods in combination with data analytics and digital technology
  • ability to develop pragmatic solutions and deliver tangible results on time
  • excellent communicator from shop floor to senior management level with outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • “bridge builder” mentality with a passion for connecting and empowering people, wholehearted team worker
  • target-focused, reliable and persistent method of working when dealing with obstacles
  • willingness and ability to self-reflect
  • travel up to 40% in compliance with the current Aurubis travel guidelines
