Water Waste Treatment and Off Gas Plant Operator

Your Tasks

Job Summary:

A production operator for running the wastewater and the off gas treatment plant is responsible for the exploitation of the equipment used to treat the waste water and the off gases. 
The production operator wastewater and off gas plant is responsible to execute her/ his tasks according to the working instructions and according to the applicable safety rules. 

As the production operator wastewater and off gas plant utilizes the equipment, he/she will notice technical issues or unsafe situations first and needs to notify these red flags to the team leader. 
The production operator wastewater and off gas plant is responsible to keep the equipment needed to clean the wastewater and off gases in perfect condition so that the emissions reach the high standards Aurubis stands for.

Following equipment are in scope for the production operator wastewater and off gas plant:

  • DENOX, Post Combustion, Quench, Filter, scrubber of the off gas plant
  • Neutralization, sedimentation, reverse osmosis and crystallization unit of the wastewater plant
  • And other production related processes

This operator is part of a team that consists out of (1) team lead, (5) production operators, (1) ladle and ingot preparation operator, (1) overhead crane operator and (1) wastewater and off gas treatment operator. If needed this operator needs to assist the other production operator in their daily activities.

Responsibilities:

Standard tasks:

  • Using a process control system:
  • Swift reactions on alarms or warnings on the control system
  • Change parameters on the control system
  • Start and stop of machinery using the control system
  • Basic cleaning and maintenance tasks:
  • Keep the operational space tidy, clean and well organized
  • Basic computer work
  • Fill out the shift logbook (excel)
  • Create SAP notifications for maintenance  
  • Execute booking automation (used and received materials) into SAP and / or MES
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process
  • Take care of consumables stock in production independently

Process tasks:

  • Daily inspection according to an inspection plan of all equipment of the wastewater and off gas treatment plants. (e.g., pH check neutralization, silo level checks, inspection of conveyors for dust built up, pressure drop of gas cleaning units, emission values)
  • Resolve issues noticed during the daily inspection (e.g. clogging of pipes pneumatic transport, cleaning of nozzles quench, …) 
  • Giving assistance during loading and unloading of products. (e.g., unloading of Activated Carbon, DENOX, … and loading of filter dust, crystals, …)
  • Utilizing a forklift truck to transport bins from the treatment plants back to the production area to be reused as input 
  • Monitor the process steps of the wastewater and off gas treatment plants. 
  • Assists maintenance personnel during repairs.
  • Assist 3rd party maintenance / inspection personnel during repair / inspections (e.g., Water quality monitoring, air emission measurement
  • Carry out production work according to the official work instructions

Other tasks:

  • Executing the tasks following the working instructions. 
  • Take independent decisions on the tasks such as described above. 
  • Executing the tasks in a safe way.
  • Notify the shift leader and / or production manager when unsafe situations occur.
  • Notify the shift leader and / or production manager when technical issues occur
  • Know environmental protection standards and measures by Aurubis and stick to them
  • Know health and safety standards and regulations by Aurubis and stick to them
  • Use the mandatory PPE’s at work
  • Assist the other production operator in their daily activities when instructed by the team lead
     

Your Profile

Qualifications:

  • Work experience in an operational environment is a bonus.
  • Work experience with gas cleaning equipment and filters is a bonus
  • Driver license for industrial trucks
  • This job requires the use of standard tools (e.g. wrenches, hammer’s, screwdrivers, ….)

Special Skills:

  • Handy with standard tools (e.g. wrenches, hammer’s, screwdrivers, ….)

Education Required:

  • High school certificate

Physical Requirements: 

  • Varying periods of time standing/ walking in the plant up to the whole shift
  • Must be able to perform the following: walking, standing, climbing, pulling, and or pushing, carrying, grasping, using hand-to-finger movement, balancing, reaching, twisting, turning and stooping for most of every day.  
  • May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • There will be prolonged periods of standing and walking in the plant daily.
  • Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to all safety needs on the floor or in the office areas.
  • Must wear all required PPE’s when in protected areas.
