The Production Supervisor leads a team of production operators, including furnace, wastewater, and off-gas treatment operators. This role is responsible for directing daily operations, ensuring safe and efficient production, and supporting operators through coaching, scheduling, and hands-on assistance when needed. This is a 2nd shift position.
The Supervisor guides and supports operators in their daily activities, monitors performance, and ensures adherence to production goals and schedules. They are responsible for developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and fostering a culture of continuous learning by training and onboarding new operators while delegating on-the-job development across the team. In addition, the Supervisor actively participates in operations by performing operator duties as needed, ensuring safe and reliable execution of all equipment and processes within their scope.
The Supervisor oversees the following process areas:
- Day bin system and overhead crane
- TBRC smelting, refining, and converting
- Lead-tin alloy furnace (three-stage reduction)
- Ladle treatment stand operation
- Separation furnace and slag granulation
- Copper and lead-tin ingot casting
- Wastewater and off-gas treatment
- Other related production processes
This position requires strong technical knowledge of smelting and refining operations, combined with leadership skills to drive performance, safety, and process excellence.
Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift
Your Tasks
Process Tasks
Monitor and respond promptly to alarms and warnings on the control system.
Adjust operating parameters, start and stop machinery, and ensure stable process performance.
Carry out assigned process steps, including bath level inspection, dip temperature measurement, N₂ flow adjustments, and other key process checks.
Operate equipment such as submerged lances, tilting/rotating furnaces, tapholes, ladle transfer cars, slag skimming tools, and overhead cranes (including remote operation).
Apply fluxes and chemicals according to process instructions, prepare casting molds, and perform ladle and ingot preparation.
Prepare equipment prior to runs (e.g., ladles, ingots, temperature checks) and clean equipment afterward (e.g., launders, tapholes).
Maintain silos and conveyors, resolve blockages, ensure material flow, and clean surrounding equipment and areas.
Perform minor troubleshooting and resolve malfunctions within scope of responsibility.
Execute production work strictly according to work instructions and safety standards.
Keep operational areas clean, tidy, and organized.
Perform cleaning tasks including TBRC mouth/hood, refractory launders, ladles, molds, and slag removal using pneumatic hammers or demolition robots.
Assist with minor refractory repairs and preparation of launders, molds, and ladles.
Create maintenance notifications (SAP), support safe maintenance activities, and participate in equipment lockout/tagout (LOTO).
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, implementing enhancements, and supporting team-driven initiatives.
Monitor and manage consumable stock for the smelting and refining area.
Supervision and Leadership Tasks
Supervise production operators, coordinate people planning, and provide daily guidance to achieve production goals.
Lead and support operators across furnaces, ladle/ingot preparation, crane, wastewater, and off-gas treatment operations.
Participate in daily production meetings, oversee shift handovers, and manage batch planning and control.
Follow up on maintenance activities, make SAP reservations for warehouse parts, and ensure timely resource availability.
Evaluate operator performance, provide feedback, and organize regular HSE and process-related training, documenting sessions as required by law.
Ensure safe, compliant operations aligned with company, environmental, and legal regulations.
Other Tasks
Complete shift logbooks (Excel) and update SAP records as required.
Report deviations, technical issues, and safety concerns to the Production Manager or Director.
Support safe and efficient maintenance by coordinating production activities to allow timely interventions.
Make independent operational decisions when necessary to meet production targets and maintain safety.
Your Profile
High School Diploma or GED
Manufacturing experience in a heavy processing environment or a wastewater operation preferred.
Prior experience supervising a team of production operators in a manufacturing environment.
Driver's license for industrial trucks and overhead crane operation (or willingness to obtain).
Experience with an oxygen burner lance and demolition robot (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements
Must be willing and physically able to walk/work in, observe and spend time in a smelter environment.
Must be willing and physically able to work in intense heat situations.
Able to sit, stand and walk for varying periods of time in the plant.
Must be able to perform the following: walking, standing, climbing, pulling, and or pushing, carrying, grasping, using hand-to-finger movement, balancing, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping.
May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Good physical condition with the ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to all safety needs on the floor or in the office areas.
Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
