In this role, you will make a significant contribution to the quality, transparency, and robustness of CapEx decisions while working closely with project teams across our international sites.

To support our team in Hamburg, Beerse, Olen, Sofia or Pirdop we are looking for you, initially limited until End of March 2027 as a parental leave replacement.

Project Cost Estimator (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Prepare and review cost estimates (AACE Class 5 to Class 2) for CapEx projects across all project phases within Aurubis’ stage-gated investment process
  • Review, challenge, and validate cost estimates prepared by external engineering partners, EPC/EPCM contractors, and suppliers
  • Support project teams in assessing scope changes, cost deviations, and contractor claims, ensuring transparency and consistency with the approved cost basis
  • Follow up approved cost estimates during project execution in close collaboration with Project Controlling, including forecasting, post-calculations, and lessons learned
  • Apply and further develop standardized cost estimation methodologies, including structured documentation of assumptions, risks, and Basis of Estimate
  • Maintain cost benchmarks, reference data, and unit rates, and monitor relevant market and cost developments

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g. Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering) or a comparable technical field
  • Practical experience in cost estimation for large industrial CapEx projects, ideally in process, chemical, metallurgical, or energy-related industries
  • Knowledge of common contracting models such as BoQ (Bill of Quantity), GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price), or LSTK (Lump Sum Turnkey)
  • Solid understanding of project development phases, engineering deliverables, and their impact on cost accuracy and uncertainty
  • Experience in assessing risks, allowances, and contingencies and translating uncertainty into transparent cost impacts
  • Experience with the Cost Estimation software package of Cleopatra Enterprise is a surplus
  • Business-fluent English and good German skills, combined with strong communication abilities and a structured, analytical working style
  • Confident personality with high self-organization, able to manage multiple stakeholders and occasional travel within Germany and Europe
