Aurubis will continue its investments in strategic large CapEx projects to further grow its core business. In this context, a centralised Group Engineering Organisation (GEO) serves as a key enabler, providing expertise and enhanced execution capabilities to the group for the successful implementation of strategic projects. Smooth coordination between commercial, technical/operational and, in particular, funding aspects is therefore mission-critical.
During the first years in this role, your primary focus will be on Project Polaris. In this context, you will be expected to be predominantly present full-time at the Aurubis site in Beerse to support the project execution on-site.
Senior Project Engineer Civil & Structural Architecture
Your Tasks
- As part of Aurubis' Group Engineering Organisation (GEO), you will work on strategic large capex projects (∅ ≥ EUR 100 million) and proactively support the respective engineering phases in the planning and construction of complex and innovative copper and recycling technology projects of the future.
- You act as the representative of the Civil, Structural and Architectural Engineering discipline (CSA) within interdisciplinary and international GEO project teams.
- You are responsible for the planning of construction, buildings and infrastructure measures, including alignment with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- You manage your projects with legal certainty in terms of quality, time and cost, and have knowledge of the required construction planning and service phases (e.g. HOAI), international standards (e.g. Eurocodes, US codes) and construction contract models (e.g. FIDIC, work contracts, design and build), as well as national approval processes.
- You review and optimise construction planning (2D and 3D/BIM models) with regard to building regulations and applicable laws, as well as health, safety and environmental targets and Aurubis standards.
- As a Project Engineer, you contribute to the updating and further development of construction project management guidelines and standards within the CSA engineering team.
- You initiate the necessary tender and award preparation processes, critically review supplier offers (including drawings) and support project procurement in category management, for example by optimising RFx tender documentation.
- You collaborate with suppliers to identify the best possible solution for the project and act as the CSA representative in the change request process.
- You critically monitor all construction activities in preparation for the commissioning phase.
- You address disruptions within your area of responsibility with the aim of sustainably reducing disruption rates.
- You take on a dedicated expert role and provide guidance for other strategic projects.
Your Profile
- You have successfully completed a master’s or diploma degree in civil engineering, architecture, structural engineering, building services engineering with a focus on civil engineering, or a comparable field.
- You have additional qualifications and experience in project management.
- You have at least 8–10 years of practical experience as a project manager or engineer working on major industrial projects (> EUR 50 million) in a technical environment within similar industries, ideally on the client side, both in Germany and internationally.
- As you will be working with both national and international stakeholders, you have a business-fluent command of English and German (minimum C1, both written and spoken). Additional language skills in Bulgarian or Dutch are considered an asset.
- You have a sound understanding of chemical or metallurgical production processes and requirements.
- You are proficient in relevant software tools (e.g. MS 365 including MS Project, simulation software, ERP systems, CAD/BIM).
- You possess proven problem-solving skills and a high level of proactivity in planning, organisation, execution and control.
- You demonstrate strong management and decision-making skills, combined with an independent, proactive and self-reliant way of working with contractors and suppliers.
- You are communicative, motivated and able to deliver presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- You are a strong team player with an interest in new tasks and challenges, and you demonstrate intercultural awareness.
- You are open to constructive feedback and committed to continuous self-development.
- Willingness to travel and flexibility for partial international assignments complete your profile.
