As a Project Engineer, you are responsible for the complete and efficient implementation of the assigned capital projects. The Project Engineer works closely with the project owner (Point of Contact – POC), other engineers, Maintenance, Finance, EHS and Sustainability stakeholders to ensure that all design requirements are met in line with project scope, deliverables, schedule and budget requirements.

Your Tasks
Lead the design process, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is safe, practical, meeting schedule requirements, and cost-effective.
Own assigned projects, ensuring proper project management work flows are followed. Ensure efficient stage-gated implementation and documentation.
Own project deliverables: Scope compliance, budget, timeline, and post project follow up details (drawings, SAP master data, parts etc.)
Accountable for the Management of Change (MOC), Hazard Study and PSSR processes.
Accountable for project progress tracking and deviation management to ensure engineering delivers design on time and budget.
Engage corporate engineering, external engineering and construction resources as needed to fulfill project requirements
Support the Engineering Team with discipline expertise and specific design/review tasks. Provide technical advice and guidance to the AUR site team and Requestor as required.
Support the site project portfolio management process, building and optimizing project work flows
Your Profile
Bachelor or Master’s in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) license, or other similar credential (CESCP, CPSE) is preferred.
Project management certification is preferred
5+ years Industrial Capital project experience ($50k – $1M+ projects)
Demonstrated cradle to grave project management experience. Strong project management and leadership skills.
Experience with major mechanical equipment included in smelting process preferred.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to perform in a cross-cultural setting.
Highly organized with strong attention to details and technicalities.
Strong critical and analytical thinking and quantitative skills.
Comfort with fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
Strong knowledge of engineering design and construction practices and standards.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards
Physical Requirements
Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
