As Aurubis Richmond’s Integrated Management System Expert, you will implement, support, and facilitate the Aurubis Operating Systems model, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management system and processes designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements (federal, state, local) as well as to establish an EHS culture as part of our zero-incident culture,
The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to maintain compliance with all OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT regulations and programs. The Integrated Management System Expert is expected to work directly with production, operations, and Human Resources to safely maximize employee productivity, overall health, mental wellness, and safety standards.
Integrated Management System Expert
Your Tasks
Be the primary site resource for ensuring the Aurubis Operation System model is understood and implemented at the Richmond site.
In conjunction with corporate EHS requirements and corporate strategy, create and implement EHS strategy and management system following the ISO 14001/45001 structure for the site to drive improvements in all key areas.
Build a healthy, sustainable EHS culture through relationship building, communication, teamwork, and risk mitigation.
Focus heavily on safety and health initiatives – building and driving new programs/systems, creating and implementing new training and related activities for the facility.
Identify, make recommendations, assist with correcting any unsafe conditions within the company, and own the documentation process.
Participate as an operations team member with all site capabilities to ensure EHS processes and tools are understood and managed.
Build detailed knowledge of site operations, risks, and regulatory applicability. Participate in site operations meetings, plans, and programs to ensure EHS risks are proactively understood and addressed.
Conduct EHS audits, risk assessments, and self-assessments and report results on a regular basis. Ensure procedural requirements are understood and followed by site personnel.
Interacts with OSHA/EPA regarding formal complaints and inspections. Assist the H&S Manager to manage all activities related to outside governmental agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Assist the H&S Manager to develop site EHS training (regulatory, company requirements, and risk based) program. Ensure a comprehensive training matrix and training plan are developed and maintained. Develop and deliver appropriate training content that is aligned with regulatory, company, and risk-based requirements.
Advise senior management on the compliance status, costs and technical improvements needed to achieve compliance.
Create and disseminate HSE metrics. Provide information as necessary to management and Risk Management Department as required.
Lead or participate in appropriately detailed accident/incident investigations and the development of recommendations/actions to prevent a recurrence. Work closely with HR and provide adequate reporting to ensure site responds to and reports all workplace injuries and near misses promptly to management and the appropriate governmental agencies when required.
Stay updated with the latest trends in health and safety, while being consistent and proactive regarding the implementation of these practices in the workplace.
Be committed to “all things well-being and safety” to maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure that every member of staff complies with the regulated standards.
Serve as backup to the EHS Manager as needed.

Your Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or related field required.
Master’s degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or Technology preferred (5-7 years of advanced experience may be substituted for Master’s). inimum of 5-7 years of experience with management systems in a manufacturing environment.
Must be conversant in EPA and OSHA regulations.
Extensive experience of developing and implementing EHS management systems. Working knowledge of safety management software, such as EHS Insight, iAuditor, SiteDocs or Safesite, Quentic, SAP-PM.
Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace.
Familiarity with writing health and safety policies and procedures.
Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
Demonstrated ability to work in and through teams at all levels of the workforce.
Must be able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Experience with ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001.
Experience with HAZOP analysis.
Must exhibit a leader-coach mentality and act as a change agent with a team-oriented focus.
Must be able to demonstrate being a key leader within cultural change.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Ability to promote win-win outcomes in the workplace.
Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
