Project Cost Controller
Your Tasks
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project cost controls, including cost estimating, cost reporting, cost forecasting, and development of cost-saving strategies and initiatives. Continually assess and improve cost control methods, tools and processes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost management.
- Work with the project team to establish cost control standards and processes and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop project budgets, forecasts, and cost baselines and monitor costs against these baselines.
- Continues monitoring of actual project expenditures against the budget and forecast future costs. Prepared detailed cost reports and financial summaries.
- Develop cost reports and financial models to analyze project costs, identify trends, and forecast
- Develop and maintain project performance metrics related to cost, including KPIs and dashboards, and use these metrics to guide project decision-making.
- Provide project status reports and other progress updates related to cost to project managers, stakeholders, and project team members, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate and report on project cost trends and provide recommendations for corrective actions when needed.
- Identify potential financial risks associated with project delays, cost overruns, and other issues. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Work closely with Change Control to evaluate the financial impact of changes in project scope, including additional work or alterations, and incorporate these into the project budget.
- Work closely with Procurement to manage contracts, including reviewing bides, making recommendations, and ensuring contract compliance regarding project costs.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, construction, commissioning, and other stakeholders to ensure cost objectives are met. Provide cost-related input and advice during project planning and execution phases.
Your Profile
- 5 years of experience as a project cost controller or similar role, preferably including construction projects with similar scope and complexity.
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Track record of successfully managing project finances.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively driving budget adherence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, finance, engineering, construction management, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to work collectively with diverse teams
- Proactive and action-required
- Able to look ahead and develop insightful forecasts
- Must be willing and physically able to walk/work in, observe and spend time in a smelter environment.
- Must be willing and physically able to work in intense heat situations.
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, climbing, balancing, crouching, and kneeling.
- May have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, in meetings or presenting and training.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
