Financial Reporting & General Accounting

  • Oversee and manage general ledger accounting, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain and analyze financial data to ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and industry regulations.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support financial planning efforts.

Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance

  • Analyze and maintain cost accounting records, including labor costs, overhead allocations, and inventory valuation.
  • Work closely with operations, production, and supply chain teams to track and optimize manufacturing costs.
  • Conduct variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead) and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support inventory management, cycle counts, and reconciliation to ensure accurate reporting of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.

Accounts Payable, Receivable, & Cash Management

  • Oversee and support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely processing and payment of invoices.
  • Monitor AP aging reports, vendor accounts, and payment schedules to maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Assist with customer billing, collections, and credit management to optimize cash flow.

Internal Controls, Compliance, & Audits

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and financial procedures to maintain the integrity of financial operations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting functions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with plant managers, production teams, and procurement to provide financial insights and reporting.
  • Assist in capital expenditure (Capex) analysis and asset management, including fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong background in cost accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and tax regulations is a plus.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
  • Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
  • Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
  • Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
  • Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
