Job Summary: The Production operator ladle and ingot preparation is responsible for the ladles, launders and ingots used in the smelting bay. He/She is also involved in repairing and maintaining the refractory material of the different furnaces. The Production operator ladle and ingot preparation is responsible to execute the tasks according to the working instructions and according to the applicable safety rules. As the Production operator ladle and ingot preparation utilizes the equipment, he/she will notice technical issues or unsafe situations first and needs to notify these red flags to the team leader. The Production operator ladle and ingot preparation is responsible for the quality of the ladles, launders and ingots. The quality of the ladles, launders and ingots is important as they are key elements during the production of blister, lead tin alloys and granules. This operator is part of a team that consists out of (1) team lead, (5) production operators, (1) ladle and ingot preparation operator, (1) overhead crane operator and (1) wastewater and off gas treatment operator. If needed this operator needs to assist the other production operator in their daily activities. Responsibilities: Standard tasks - Basic cleaning and maintenance tasks:
- Keep the operational space tidy, clean and well organized
- Use a compressed air driven (pneumatic) hammer
- Use of a demolition robot
- Perform smaller refractory repairs on launders, ladles and furnaces
- Prepare launder refractory
- Prepare molds and ladles
- Clean launders, ladles and molds
- Basic computer work
- Fill out the shift logbook (excel)
- Create notifications for maintenance (SAP)
- Participate in the continuous improvement process
- Take care of consumables stock in production independently
Process tasks - Follow up on the ladles (7m3 and 0,7m3); Using the ladle heating, ladle drying stand, ladle breakout stand and ladle relining stand to keep the ladles in perfect conditions and ready to be used by production
- Follow up on all molds; make sure they are ready to be used by production (e.g., LTAF molds, Copper casting molds, …)
- Follow up on all refractory lined launders, make sure they are ready to be used by production (e.g., Copper casting launder, granulation launder, Slag holding furnace launders, …) if needed execute repairs
- Follow up on all refractory lined furnaces, make sure they are ready to be used by production (e.g., TBRC, LTAF, SHF, …) if needed execute repairs
- Use a (hot) patch machine to perform (hot) patching in the furnaces and or launders for quick repairs.
- Bricking / rebricking of (parts of) cold furnaces
- Assist 3rd party personnel for bricking of furnaces
- The production team leader can give other tasks within the production plant
- Take ownership of all the tools needed to perform the above mentioned tasks; e.g. patching machine, molds for relining the ladles, pneumatic hammers, …)
Other tasks - Executing the tasks following the working instructions.
- Take independent decisions on the tasks such as described above.
- Executing the tasks in a safe way.
- Notify the shift leader and / or production manager when unsafe situations occur.
- Notify the shift leader and / or production manager when technical issues occur
- Know environmental protection standards and measures by Aurubis and stick to them
- Use the mandatory PPE at work
